
GENERAL
The IMI-L follows an open access system.
Books or other materials taken from the stacks should not be re-shelved by the readers but should be left on the tables reserved for this purpose. Please remember that a book misplaced is a book lost. While entering the library, readers should leave their personal belongings, such as bags, brief-cases, personal books, and parcels near the counter reserved for this purpose. However, they can carry loose papers and note books. Readers leaving the library should allow the library/security staff to examine their personal belongings. Readers should maintain peace in the library and should not disturb other users in any way. Smoking is strictly prohibited.
Readers should not deface, mark, cut, mutilate or damage library material in any way. If anyone is found doing so, he will be charged the full replacement cost of the material.
Community children who have passed XII Std. and studying for graduation from College/University and above, and the Professional Course only will be allowed reading facility in the library.
All such community children would have to apply for membership in the prescribed form. They would also be entitled to borrow two books on the security to be furnished by their parents. Research Scholars registered for Ph.D. of other institutions and Universities would be permitted for a limited period but not more than 15 days at a time against Ph.D. registration letter from the University. The faculty and people from other organizations from local management schools and other academic institutions would be provided reading (referencing and consultation) facilities against the deposit of Rs.5000/. The deposit is refundable. Students from other colleges and educational institutions are not allowed access with the exception of registered Ph.D. scholars.
Library's photocopying and database search services are fee based. Library's computing facilities and database access is meant only for Faculty, PGPs, FPMs and Research staff. Using computers for emails is prohibited.
BORROWING ENTITLEMENT
Borrowing privileges are given only to the Faculty, Visiting Faculty, Research and Administrative Staff, Students and Alumni stationed in Indore.
Books can be borrowed against library card issued by IMI-L to the borrowers.
The library card is non-transferable and their loss should be immediately reported to the library. Although the library will take all possible care against the misuse of the library card, it is the holder of the library card who is responsible for any loss to the library due to the misuse of his/her library card. A fee of Rs.5/- will be charged for issuing a duplicate ticket/booklet.
"Reference or Rare" books and unbound issues of journals, periodicals and corporation reports will not be issued out of the library to anybody except the faculty.
Books and materials kept on reserve sequence will be issued out of the library only on overnight basis at 9.00 P.M. and returned before 9.00 A.M. the next day for all days except Sunday when the time of return will be 2.00 P.M. Bound volumes of periodicals and journals and corporation reports will be issued out for one week and can be renewed once, unless there is a pending demand, for one more week. This facility is allowed to faculty members of the institute. Reissue of book/books will be done once in the first instance, and after a lapse of one month it/these could be reissued. Books recommended by the faculty will be issued for a week and after being returned will be placed on display along with other display books.
Faculty members can borrow any number of books for four months at a time.
FPM students can borrow 15 books at a time for four months.
The Institute's Alumni stationed at Indore can become borrowing members by depositing Rs.3000/- with the library. They can borrow two books at a time for two weeks.
Students and the Administrative Staff can borrow four books for two weeks.
Former/retired Faculty permanently residing in Indore will be issued library card for borrowing books and can borrow four books at a time for one month.
The issue of library materials will be stopped at 9.30 P.M. on Monday thr' Friday, and Sundays, and at 3.30 P.M. on Saturdays.
ISSUE AND RETURN
The borrower may return or renew the book on or before the due date. For renewing, presentation of the material along with the booklet/tickets is necessary. Renewal is not permitted if a demand is pending for the material. The library can recall material after two weeks of issue. Materials to be replaced on reserve can be recalled any time. If a book is not returned to the library when due, the borrower will be fined Re.1/- per day per volume. For books available for overnight borrowing only, the overdue fine will be Rs.5/- per hour. Overdue fines can be paid in cash at the counter. The library can refuse to issue books to a borrower having overdue books.
If the borrower leaves Indore and is not expected to return before the due date for returning borrowed material, he should return or renew such material before leaving the city.
A borrower going on leave with or without salary, deputation, study leave, or extra-ordinary leave will have to return all borrowed material before leaving Indore.
Loss of borrowed material must be immediately reported in writing. The replacement charge (double the current price) for lost material, will also include overdue charges if applicable.
PHOTOCOPY FROM OTHER LIBRARIES
Library arranges for photocopies of papers/articles, chapters from books on payment basis. The rates of photocopy will be the rates applicable in the library for sending the photocopy.
